Where to get Your Birth Certificate:

Since the Privacy Act of 1974, only the person, his or her parents or legal representative is able to obtain the birth certificate for eighteen states. On fourteen more of the applications, a relationship to the person is required. Most states require a reason given for the document: some may accept the reasons of: Genealogical study, research on date-time patterns, book or article material. Others may not. This report is not inclusive as all the information is not in. Note the following code: P. Parents names (with mother's maiden name). R. Relationship to the person. S. Name of closest sibling.
