Solar Eclipse Extraordinaire

The lunar eclipse has occurred and its much anticipated partner, the solar eclipse, steps in to be the show stopper this week. Let the continuation of intense energy ensue. For some of us, solar eclipses may conjure up childhood memories of hearing warnings to not look at the Sun or poking holes in a shoebox as a means to witness the amazing event. As the last solar eclipse before the millennium launches, the anticipation comes to a head. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon, during its monthly trip around the Earth, lines up exactly between the Earth and the Sun. What makes this solar eclipse so special you ask? The simple answer is this, a powerful placement of the planets. The phenomenon is called the Grand Cross and it is composed of the four fixed signs - Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius - and includes the eclipsed Sun. It constitutes an amazing array of energy that is looking for an outlet. If you're looking for a catalyst to make a change, look no further. It may not come as easy though, as it at first seems. Mars and Saturn figure prominently in the Grand Cross. They oppose each other in the Cross so they are essentially dueling for their influences to be most prominent. Mars' command of action, energy, drive and determination meets Saturn's awareness of limitations, perseverance, discipline and determination. In other words, passion takes on patience. Quite an interesting duel indeed. The influences of the solar eclipse are felt on a global level. The pulls are felt most prominently depending on how your planets are positioned in your birthchart. This eclipse will most affect Leos born in the second week of August, Scorpios born in the second week of November, Aquarians born in the second week of February and Taureans born in the second week of May.
