Affiliate Sales Manager

Astrology.net is the leading Internet astrology destination with over 1 million monthly visitors, and was recently acquired by NY-based iVillage ( IVIL ). Our distribution partnerships include Excite, Looksmart, Lifetime TV and more than 200 publishers. These partnerships are an important element in our commerce model and typically involve elements of both content syndication and commerce transactions. The Affiliate Sales Manager identifies new affiliate sales opportunities and leverages current partnerships to maximize sales. This position reports to Astrology.net Co-founder and Business Manger. Responsibilities/Activities: ~ Seek out new affiliates and pitch prospects daily ~ Negotiate partnerships including contract amendments ~ Plan and implement affiliate program automation with third party/s ~ Continuously update the program to meet current market requirements ~ Current "AstroAffiliate" program information available online at http://astrology.net/affiliate Qualifications: ~ Excellent communication and negotiation skills ~ Ability to write convincing pitches and proposals ~ Very Internet savvy ~ Highly organized with strong ability to follow though to completion ~ Strong customer service skills for assisting potential, new and ongoing partners ~ Familiarity with contract language and format ~ Programs: Microsoft Word, FileMaker Pro (or other database program), Excel Experience / Knowledge: ~ Marketing, advertising, business development or promotional background, Internet market experience preferred ~ Experience with affiliate marketing programs a big plus ~ Thorough knowledge of consumer-oriented Internet content marketplace Environment: Fast/Internet pace.
