Chapter 8: Areas That Challenge You Or Are Difficult For You
You have difficulty asserting your will and desires
directly and openly. You also may suppress your anger and
aggressiveness. Developing self-confidence, courage, and faith
in yourself are important tasks for you.
You are very conscientious, responsible, and concerned with
your duty, your public image and reputation, and becoming a
person of stature in the world. You understand the need for hard
work and careful planning in order to accomplish anything
substantial and you're capable of much self-discipline and
patience once you set your sights on a goal.
But you are very judgmental and hard on yourself if you
fail to attain success, and you can become dry, bitter, or
cynical if the world doesn't recognize your efforts.
Your faith, optimism, and sense of possibilities are
tempered by much caution, and often doubt or skepticism as well.
Whatever hopes or visions you have for your life are firmly held
in check by your sense of reality. At times you may wish for
more freedom, but you also fear it and hang back. You may blame
practical limitations or some external condition or the
prevailing Authority for your own inhibitions.
Now we will discuss patterns of behavior which you
instinctively and habitually revert to when under stress - a
mostly unconscious process and one which you are apt to overdo
because it is so familiar and thus easy for you. The direction
you need to follow in order to develop balance, greater
awareness, and wholeness is also described.
Seeking interpersonal harmony, cooperation, and
togetherness, and desiring to please or appease other people is
very natural for you so much so that you accommodate them at
your own expense. When you are under stress, you tend to look
outside yourself for approval or answers, and you lean on others
too much. Therefore, developing self-reliance, and the courage
to look to yourself for your answers and forge your own path
through life is a key factor in development.
You are often tempted to be less than completely
straightforward about your intentions or desires, and you can
become enmeshed in a swamp of "little white lies" and evasions.
Radical honesty with yourself and others is the only way out!
This, however, leads you to confront some of your most deeply
ingrained fears, such as "what if "they" don't like me?" and
"what if I have to go it alone?".
Cultivate your ability to be assertive, to take initiative
and act on your own behalf. Directness and self-reliance are
keys.
The arena you are most likely to wrestle with these issues
is in your public life and career. All of these issues will
impact your reputation and standing in your community or
professional circle, as well as how you achieve your important
life goals and aspirations.
You may have the feeling that you constantly have to
surrender to the wishes of other people and give the impression
of being passive or indifferent when you are with others. You
never take the initiative and depend on the support of groups
you are affiliated with.
Your feelings are heightened when you are with others and
you have the ability to open up to them and show your feeling
without reservation. Lead by your instincts, you are likely to
have many spontaneous contacts with other people.
You seem to have an innate sense of cosmic awareness and are
likely to have strong psychical or metaphysical talents. You are
inclined to join some parapsychology groups where you may share
your unusual experiences with other people.
