September 1999

SEPTEMBER - Mars is still visible with Antares low in the western sky after dusk. Jupiter and Saturn rise late in the evening and command the sky. They are now 10 degrees apart and continue to approach their conjunction at 22 degrees of Taurus in May, 2000, initiating another 20 year cycle. 7 - Venus is beautiful in the morning sky' only 10 degrees from the waning crescent Moon. Venus rises earlier each day and gets increasingly bright. 9 - New Moon 3:02 P.M. PST, 16 degrees Virgo. 10 - Venus is stationary direct at 19 degrees Leo. 15, 16 - Watch the Moon with Mars and Antares. 23 - Fall equinox -- 4:32 A.M. The Sun's declination -- or distance north and south of the equator -- changes rapidly now. The Sun sets farther south each day by a slightly greater distance than the orb of its disc. 25 - Full Moon 3: 51 A.M. PST, 1 degree Aries/Libra. 26 - Venus is brilliant as a morning start conjunct Regulus. 27 - Jupiter, Saturn and the Moon.
