September's Eclipses, Black Moon Lillith, and You

September through October of 1997 prove to be a very challenging few weeks of personal walks through fire, which, ultimately, precipitate change. We have two very important eclipses which have not appeared in the sky since 1979; we have a six year cycle which occurs every September, where Black Moon Lillith aligns with the traveling North Node; we have the wounded healer, Chiron, entering the sign of Scorpio on September 2, 1997 and we have transiting Mercury, the planet of communication, moving in a direct fashion in the sign of Virgo on September 9. This is a tremendous amount activity in the sign of Virgo, which is the sign of facilitation, problem solving, working out the details, and purification. One of the major lessons of this period is how to discriminate between what is important and what is not!! Starting with the Solar Eclipse at 9 degrees of Virgo on September 1, we are aware of our work, what we are doing in the world, and which parts of our work is outworn and taking up too much time. We are also aware of what we need to do to become more efficient, so that we can achieve a balance between creative freedom and duty. This eclipse particularly affects the signs of Virgo and Pisces and Gemini and Sagittarius. For the next year, every three months, around December, 1997, March, June, and September of 1998, the plan unfolds on how to make things work more efficiently. On September 16, we have a Total Lunar Eclipse, a full moon, which is a kind of emotional "rotorooter", affecting the later degrees of the signs of Virgo and Pisces, Gemini and Sagittarius. Accompanying this cycle, which exacerbates the situation is the six year conjunction of Black Moon Lillith with the traveling North Node in Virgo. Lillith was Adam's first wife who was created equally with Adam. She fully expects to name the animals as does Adam and cannot understand why she needs to lay beneath Adam. Adam becomes very upset with Lillith and tells God that this "wife is not working out" and so, Lillith is given two choices, stay in the Garden and obey, or, go out into the desert, where for every day she is gone, 100 of her children will be destroyed. The challenge of Lillith running with the North Node throughout this month is how all of us can successfully stay in the Garden and still be able to speak our truth and be considered while in partnership. During this entire time, we all are being challenged with how we communicate the need to participate, to listen, to serve, to re-order outworn systems of communication and behavior. The tendency may be to run away or disappear from sight where it is easier than confronting those needs that we have and hold that make us have self-worth and which honors the value we have of ourselves. In addition, we have Chiron, the wounded healer, again entering the sign of Scorpio starting on September 2 (as it briefly did earlier this year) for about two years. This adds to the above scenario. We must try to stay strong and in our power with controlling, dominating, or running because of fear of abandonment or personal destruction. It challenges us to address those subtle, but deterring emotional minefields that keep us from experiencing our full power. The best that anyone can hope for in this period of time is the wisdom to know the difference between worry that exacerbates fear, and the ability to take care of that which we can take care of and let go of all of the rest. We are asked to be clear about our intentions, to communicate them in the fullest sense, and, truly make the effort to be as clear about intentions, plans, and ways in which to solve problems in a very clear and verbal manner. The danger is to think that because we feel so intensely that which we need that there is really no need to verbalize it. Truth is, no one gets anything through osmosis unless they are world renown psychics and that is their job!! It takes courage to plan, to discriminate between that which is important to us and that which we can really just let go and let God. Practical solutions prosper over fantasy and undefined or unexpressed dreams. When to plan and when not to plan. What to do and what not to do are the challenges faced during this time. Working with the cycles of the moon, particularly during the eclipses of September, where we begin projects, discuss the possibilities between the New Moon of September 1 and the Full Moon of September 16, and then sorting out what needs to be done first, second, and third in the ensuing weeks makes for a very effective plan this fall. In my upcoming 1998 Starcycles Planning Book, released in September, we cover these various phenomenon and show when the most opportune times come for planning your personal and professional life.
