Chapter 4: Mental Interests and Abilities

You are a progressive thinker, open and receptive to new technologies and breakthroughs in science, and the latest discoveries in any field. You have high expectations and a deep belief that mankind's problems can be solved through the use of our creative intelligence and inventive mind. You have no patience for those whose conservative, unimaginative outlook limits their capacity to find solutions and envision a better future. You also like to keep abreast of current developments in world affairs, for you instinctively know that what happens in one part of the world affects everyone. You have a strong humanitarian impulse. Practically speaking, you have an aptitude for organization and enjoy being involved in cooperative endeavors or businesses that are contemporary and innovative. You think a great deal about your career, your reputation and public image, and the way you make a contribution or impact on the world at large. Public speaking or communications of some other kind is likely to be an important aspect of the work you do. Argumentative and rather aggressive and critical in discussions, you tend to turn any conversation into a debate, and sometimes a verbal war. You could be a spokesman for a righteous cause, a lawyer vigorously defending a client, a sharp analyst or critic. You are a convincing speaker, but are not especially receptive to the ideas and opinions of others. You have a forceful intellect and an aptitude for mental work. You have an ongoing interest in learning and expanding your mental horizons. You enjoy traveling, philosophical discussions, and exchanging ideas with those of different experiences and viewpoints. Broad-minded and fair, you are well-suited to law, consulting, diplomatic relations, and also business. You learn quickly, and can pick up on a new idea or concept with relative ease. Your mind works in a rather electric, inspired, sometimes brilliant way, and you grasp new concepts very readily. However, your retention may be poor, as you tend to leap from one idea to another in a flash, and often without thoroughly digesting any of them. Your mind may race so quickly that it is hard for you to sit still for any length of time. You have a highly sensitive nervous system and need a relatively calm, stable environment to be at your best. Avoid overstimulating, frenetic places in order to stay balanced. You have very strong opinions and may be seen as fanatical, extreme, dogmatic, or one-sided in your views. Forcing your "truth" onto other people or playing intellectual power games with them, seeking to manipulate their thinking along certain lines, can lead to much conflict and opposition in your life. You may also be keenly aware of the ways the media, popular artists, and advertising manipulates and shapes our thoughts, for you see through hypocrisy, sham, and surface appearances quite readily. You have an intense way of communicating, and you may threaten others unintentionally. You have a tendency to show other people that you are someone to be reckoned with. You are inclined to be irritable, easily angered, and quick to take offense. You also may have a sharp tongue and are likely to have frequent quarrels or disputes.
